Walk, Run, or Shoot Hoops from January 9th-12th to Support Black and Brown Women Entrepreneurs

By joining this movement, you’re not only raising awareness about the lack of grant funding for Black and Brown women entrepreneurs but also actively contributing to changing the narrative. Every mile, every shot, and every story shared will push us closer to our goal of ensuring that these women receive the support and funding they need to succeed.

Whether you’re a walker, runner, or basketball fan, this is your chance to be part of something bigger. We’re building a community of changemakers who are determined to challenge the status quo and create a more equitable future for all.

The disparity in funding for Black and Brown women business owners is undeniable—less than 1% of all grant funding goes to them. It’s time to change that. That’s why we’re inviting you to join me, 1M Miles, and Hoops Made in a national movement from January 9th-12th to take action and #ChangeThe1%.

By signing up, you agree to walk, run, or shoot hoops wherever you are across the U.S. during these four days. We’re asking for a minimum commitment of 1.2 miles (to represent the less than 1% of funding) or 10 basketball shots, but you can always do more—there’s no limit!

Every step you take and every shot you make brings awareness to the funding gaps that Black and Brown women face. Together, we’re creating a powerful, collective voice for change. Your participation will help shine a light on these disparities and support efforts to provide more opportunities for Black and Brown women to access the funding they deserve.

How It Works:

  1. Sign Up to participate.
  2. From January 9th-12th, commit to walking/running at least 1.2 miles or shooting 10 hoops (or more, if you’re up for the challenge).
  3. Do it anywhere—in your neighborhood, at the gym, in the park, or even at home.
  4. Share your progress on social media using #Changingthe1% and encourage your friends and family to join.
